Value Statement for Students
As a student attending the Academy you have the following rights:
- The right to be treated with respect
- The right to make innocent, unintentional mistakes without reprimand
- The right to maintain your own opinions and convictions, and when necessary to change your mind without outside judgment
- The right to grow and develop in an environment which does not criticize, intimidate, humiliate or belittle
- The right to take responsibility for only your own problems or inappropriate behavior
- The right to a challenging education presented in a logical, understandable format on a level of instruction consistent with your current skills and method of learning
- The right to have your accomplishments noted publicly
- The right to receive your education in a drug-free, safe, welcoming environment
- The right to grow as an individual without taking on adult responsibilities and stresses
- The right to speak up for yourself and not have your actions judged without an inquiry into the facts on both sides
